Signal Conditional (Ex) | MCR components for the Ex area

 

The automation of process engineering operations requires much information on the current value of different process parameters. The most important measuring tasks invloved here concern the recording of pressure, temperature, flow rate, and liquid levels. In addition to these analog closed-loop signals (4...20mA), there exist a large number of digital message and control signals.

Another feature of many process control systems is the presence of zones in which potentially explosive atmosphere can occur.

The protection type "intrinsic safety" (Ex i) has become established worldwide for MCR technology because of its comparatively simple installation and economical equipment.

Irrespective of the measurement and control application, whether system technology (process technology systems with a large number of measuring junctions) or individual applications (mechanical and plant engineering), the INTERFACE Ex product range from Phoenix Contact offers tailor-made, economical solutions for practical implementation of your automation task and contributes to high system availability. With INTERFACE Ex, intrinsically safe signals curcuits are electrically isolated from the system level, and the meaured values are transmitted to the PLCs or process control systems with great accuracy. 

The products of the INTERFACE Ex product group are certified in accordance with the 94/9/EC (ATEX) directive and other international standards (IECEx, cUL,...).

Phoenix Contact offers two different INTERFACE Ex series for various customer requirements:

MACX Analog Ex: The only 12.5 mm wide devices are directly snapped onto the DIN rail
Process interface PI: The devices having a width of only 12.4 mm are plugged into the base elements without additional wiring and mounted on the DIN rail

 

Analog IN: HART-compatible supply / input isolation amplifiers

Measuring transducer repeater power supplies and input isolating amplifiers for intrincically safe operation of 2-conductor transmitters and 4-conductor measuring transducers:
- Feeding and non-feeding input (0/4...20 mA)
- Passive and active output
- Bidirectional transmission of the HART signal
- Integrated HART termination resistor
- Either with 24 V or long range supply

 
   
Analog OUT: HART-compatible ouput isolation amplifiers

Output isolating amplifiers for the intrinsically safe operation of control valves, I/P converters and indicators:
- 0/4...20 mA input
- Bidirectional transmission of the HART signal
- Link break detection
 
   
Digital IN: NAMUR isolation amplifiers

NAMUR isolation amplifiers for the intrinsically safe operation of proximity sensors and switches:
- 1 or 2 channel
- Relay or transistor output
- Configurable via DIP switch
- Group error message via T-connector
 
   
Digital OUT: Solenoid drivers

Solenoid drivers for the intrinsically safe operation of solenoid valves and alarm transmitters:
- Loop-powered
- Only four variants for all commercially available solenoid valves

 
   
Temperature: FDT / DTM-programmable temperature transducer

Temperature measuring transducers for the intrinsically safe operation of resistance thermometers, resistance-type sensors, thermocuples and mV sources:
- 0...20 mA- and 4...20 mA output
- Configurable via software (FDT/DTM)
